Commanders Corner:
 
Bingo - Bingo - Bingo  --- This is our major fundraiser to help support our programs. Please come out and support your Post........PLAY BINGO and take home some money while having fund!
 
Speaking of Bingo...we are doing very well.  Our crowds have picked up and we are planning on increasing our jackpot to $700.00 hoping to bring in even more players.
 
Our Canteen is doing very well also and is open every Friday and Saturday evening from 7:00 pm to 12:30 am.  The "Winchester Band" is our house band and they are just great.  Come out and "shake a leg" and support your Post.  
 
Volunteers we can use anytime. We still need help with the Bingo sessions, and other odds and ends around the post home.    With Bingo I could use some help with running the cash register, calling bingo and selling cards on the floor.  We have Bingo every Friday and Saturday evening.  Help would be needed from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm.  If you can volunteer every now and then please give me a call.
 
STATE CONVENTION AWARDS:
 

Department of Georgia Awards:

1.     Military Assistance Program Participation

2.     Loyalty Day Certificate

3.     Hospital Winner for 4th District

 

National Citations:

  1. for Community Service
  2. for Safety
  3. for Americanism
  4. and for Youth

Post 658 also received a Plaque for 25 Life Members from the VFW National Home for Children.

 

Post 658 also received the State Overall Outstanding Post in Community Service and will represent the Department at the National Convention and  receive the Outstanding Community Service Post Award from National which includes a Street sign to be placed at the Post home.

 

AUXILIARY AWARDS:

 

Received State plaques for Division Winner in the following –

Community Service

            National Home

Voice of Democracy

Americanism  

Also won the Mary Telford Rotating Trophy and Citation for the Most Outstanding Auxiliary in all phases of Americanism. 

 
And as always please recruit new members for us, ask a friend to join our ranks.

Note from the Auxiliary President:

Sisters, Congratulations!  We ended 2007-2008 with 100% in membership.  Thanks to all that helped to achieve this goal. 

We are alreay into the 2008-2009 membership year. Go ahead and pay your dues early.  Cost is $25.00.  Send payment to Pat Walker, 4864 Harrison Rd., Macon, GA 31206.

Come out and play Bingo with us on Wednesday night.  Jackpot $600.00.  

Thanks to everyone for all of the hard work that you did for 2007-2008.  Refer to Commander's message above for all the State Convention Awards that we received.
